Weak availability of chana with the stockists and pulse mills and scarce supply of the Nafed stock have lifted the prices of chana at the mandis in Indore. Chana (kanta) rose to ₹4,500 a quintal, while chana (desi) ruled at ₹4,400 and chana (vishal) at ₹4,300 a quintal respectively. In addition, the rise in demand for chana during the Makar Sankaranti festival has also added to the upside. Chana dal (average) was stable at ₹5,500-5,600, chana dal (medium) at ₹5,700-5,800, while chana dal (bold) fetched ₹5,900-6,000 a quintal. Dollar chana ruled flat at ₹5,000-5,200 on subdued demand.
