Woman alleges rape at in-laws’ behest

CHANDIGARH: In a bid to spy upon her estranged husband, a woman was reportedly raped by a man in Rewari. The police has booked and arrested the accused for rape and the woman’s estranged husband has also been booked for violence.

The accused has been identified as Samir Kumar alias Sachin. Rewari police is probing the role of the woman’s husband and his family members in the crime. They are on the run, the cops said.

According to sources, the couple had married in November 2013 and had a child. Their relations, however, turned sour and the woman went back to her parental home in July this year.

Meanwhile, Samir got in touch with her and assured to keep an eye on her husband. Later he asked her to come to Rewari to take video footage of her husband that could be helpful to her.

When the woman met Samir in a hotel room where he raped her. The survivor has alleged that it was her estranged in laws had sent Samir and he had hand over the recordings of her conversation to her in laws, which clearly established their role in the crime.

She also alleged being threatened and thrashed by her husband. “The complainant has alleged that Samir had raped her in a hotel. On Saturday, she had lodged a complaint at Sonipat. A zero FIR was registered and the case was transferred to Rewari. Meanwhile, we have arrested Samir.,” an official said.
