The 46-year-old failed to report to Kogarah Police Station for bail on December 29, the Daily Telegraph reported.
Police allege Abberton, who is the brother of fellow Bra Boys founders Koby and Sunny, forced his way into a South Coogee unit in December last year and 'assaulted a 43-year-old man with a knife'.
The occupant of the unit was taken to hospital and treated for a non-life threatening leg injury.
Abberton appeared in Parramatta Bail Court on Tuesday, where the court heard Abberton was recently hospitalised with mental health issues.
Abberton's Legal Aid solicitor Jill Kiely told the court Abberton wished to move to the Central Coast to live with his aunt, but was unable to get his bail conditions changed due to a partial shutdown of the legal system over Christmas.
Ms Kiely claimed Abberton had deliberately breached his bail conditions, saying: 'He ascertained the only way to get his bail varied was to get himself arrested.'
Abberton appeared in court via video link, promising he had 'turned his life around' after the birth of his child.
Abberton is accused of entering the South Coogee home of a man known to him with two other men on December 12, 2017.

One of the other men was wearing a balaclava and the resident was allegedly assaulted with a pole.
Police allege Abberton told the alleged victim: 'I should get a knife out at you and get you to sign this unit over.'
One of Abberton's alleged accomplices grabbed a meat cleaver from the kitchen and cut the back of the man's left leg, the court heard.
Abberton allegedly locked the man's dog in a bedroom to protect it from harm.
He is accused of stealing the man's wallet, an amount of cannabis and Valium.
Abberton alongside his brothers Sunny, Koby and Dakota were the subject of a 2007 documentary called Bra Boys: Blood Is Thicker Than Water, narrated by Oscar-winning actor Russell Crowe.
