Letter to the Editor: Try fining employers instead of building a costly wall

Twenty five billion dollars on a wall or fence that no one can be sure will be effective.

On the other side of enforcement, I decided to research the penalties for hiring an illegal alien. First offense fines range from $200 to $350. I know people who have paid more for going 15 mph over the speed limit. If the penalty was raised from $200 to $2,000 for a first offense, there would be very little need for a border wall.
