PATNA: Police are yet to arrest two more suspects in connection with a minor girl’s gang rape and murder. Her body was recovered from the bushes near railway tracks under the Bairgania police station area in Sitamarhi district on December 11.

The victim’s boyfriend, who is also a minor, was arrested and sent to a remand home. One Anil Kumar (45) was also arrested the next day after the body’s recovery, Bairgania SHO Sujeet Kumar said on Monday. Her postmortem report had conformed gang rape, he said.

Sitamarhi Sadar SDPO Kumar Vir Dhirendra said two more suspects were yet to be arrested.

The deceased, a Class VIII student, was gang-raped and killed when she had gone to attend a marriage in a nearby temple on December 8 night. “Soon after the body was found, her boyfriend was arrested on the basis of her call detail record (CDR) as he was the last person to talk to the girl on her cellphone,” the SDPO said.

“The deceased had demanded a smartphone from her boyfriend, who had expressed his inability to oblige. He, however, had promised the girl that his neighbour Anil will give her a smartphone. Both the minors reached Anil’s residence on December 8 night. Anil then asked the boy to go home as it was getting late and assured him that he would drop the girl at her home. But the minor was then gang-raped and killed by Anil and his friends and her body was dumped in bushes,” the SHO added.
