Man drowns in temple pond
tnn | Jan 1, 2019, 23:58 ISTThiruvananthapuram: In yet another incident, a 30-year-old man died on Tuesday after he drowned in a temple pond at Kariyam under Sreekaryam police station limits.
Shibin of Edavilakom near Murukkumpuzha is the deceased. The mishap occurred in Kattukulam pond located adjacent to Kariyam temple at Kalluvila.
According to police, the inicdent occurred when Shibin visited his friend Sharath’s residence at Kalluvila to celebrate New Year in the morning. After lunch, Shibin, Sarath and two other friends reached the pond to take a dip. Shibin lost his balance and drowned while hurriedly trying to retrieve the towel he was wearing . His friends immediately pulled him out of the pond and took him to Medical College Hospital. But, doctors declared him dead on arrival.
Shibin was an expatriate, who worked in a Gulf country. He had returned home on leave in December. He was scheduled to return by january end.
He leaves behind wife Chinnu and one-year-old child. His body is kept in the mortuary of Medical College Hospital. It will be handed over to the family after conducting a post mortem examination on Wednesday.
