The ACB teams conducted searches on the house of Mr. Diwakar at Palangi in the Undrajavaram mandal and on the houses of his relatives and friends in four other places in the West Godavari district and booked a disproportionate assets case.

The CIU unearthed 85.62 acres of agriculture land, two multi-storied commercial buildings, a farm house, one two storied residential building, three flats, ₹6.25 lakh, foreign currency valued about ₹60 lakh, 500 grams gold, 5 kg silver, five four-wheelers including a Volkswagen and an Innova, household articles worth ₹30 lakh and other valuables on the first day of the searches. Five teams conducted the searches and the raids would continue. Two lockers were yet to be opened in two banks in Tanuku, said ACB DGP R.P. Thakur.

Mr. Diwakar joined government service in June 2009, and had been on long leave since October, 2017.

‘Benami angle’

The properties he purchased were registered in the names of himself, his mother and brother between 2012 and 2018. He was being arrested and would be produced in the ACB court, Mr. Thakur said.

The ACB was probing benami angle and trying to extract his personal and family members’ mobile contacts.
