Cold allegedly claimed the life of two farmers in Jhalawar and Baran district of Hadouti as the region, hit by the persistent cold wave for last two days, shivers with minimum temperature dipping below 5 degree Celsius. The dipping temperature in Kota, Bundi, Baran and Jhalawar districts of the region has forced the locals to stay under shelter.
The a-55-year old farmer, identified as Mohanlal Lodha, a resident of Govindpur under Jhalrapatan police station of Jhalawar district was on Saturday found dead in his agriculture field, told police personnel at Jhalrapatan police station Pritam Singh. According to family members of the deceased, the farmer had gone to his agriculture field early morning to water the crop but when his son reached the field at around 8 o’clock in the morning, he found his father lying unconscious in the field, the police personnel said. He was rushed to the local hospital where the doctors on duty declared him brought dead, he added.
‘The body was as chilled as that of a slab of ice and there were layers of ice on the ground around the body’, the deceased farmer’s son told the police adding his father was most likely to have died of freezing cold.
Similarly, a 26-year-old farmer, identified as Shivpal Sahariya, a resident of Vijaypur village under Kishanganj police station of Baran district was found dead in his agriculture field. The deceased farmer last night had gone to keep a watch and guard the crops in the field but when his family members today morning reached the agriculture field, they found him dead on the in the field, SHO at Kishanganj police station Dhanraj Meena said. According to family members, the body of the deceased farmer was as cold as ice slab and there was freezing ice around him in the field, the SHO said. The body was handed over to the family members after postmortem and a matter was lodged under section 174 of CrPC for investigation, SHO Dhanraj Meena said.
