“Never say die” is the spirit of an acid attack victim, Inderjeet Kaur. A young girl, who is blind, having distorted nose, lost her one ear, has joined as a clerk in the Canara Bank, New Delhi. Inderjeet Kaur of Maroli Kalan village of Roopnagar said, “It was not an easy journey for her as she had to undergo pathetic situation in her life after the acid
attack as she had to pass through a number of face, chest and hands surgeries. She said her skin was thaw out due to heavy acid which was thrown on her by the attacker. She said her chin got twig with her neck. Fortis Hospital, Mohali, helped her to part her chin from neck with the help of surgery. Then she had moved to Shankar Netralya, Chennai, for one year as both of her eyes balls were melt away. She had to undergo 8 to 9 surgeries as doctors
were of the view that her right eye might be reconstructed but all gone in vain. She said she still has to go for laser treatment every month.Recalling the horrible incident, she said it was around 6.30 pm on December 8, 2011 when Manjit Singh son
of Sant Singh of Zirakpur knocked at her door. When she opened the door, the guy was standing with a jug in his hand. She said as soon as she could judge his intentions, he threw jug filled with acid on her. The accused
was arrested by the police on the second day of the incident and now he is serving 10-year imprisonment. She said the accused had the history of taking drugs and he was after her to get married. She further told that the boy was her classmate and both were studying in class XII. She said a phone call had changed her life. Dr Sukhvinder Singh, a
professor of the National Institute for Visually Handicapped, Dehradun, called her up and told that he himself is a victim of acid attack. She said the professor motivated her to come to the institute. She said the institute proved
a ray of hope as she did six months course of daily living skills in which she learnt to walk with the help of stick. Then she attended technology classes and learnt to work on laptop, computer as a blind person, she added
