BENGALURU: Senior IPS officer D Roopa on Saturday filed a complaint with city cybercrime police stating miscreants have been collecting money by creating a fake Instagram account in her name.

Roopa, the deputy general of inspector-home guards, stated in her complaint that unknown people have created d_roopa_ips account with a message ‘Kindly help by donating to help girls from economically weaker sections’.

According to Roopa, the cheating came to light when a person tweeted her, asking the exact reason behind her fund collection. “I don’t have an Instagram account. On searching extensively, I came across this Instagram account,” Roopa said.

“I want the account to be deleted,” Roopa told STOI . Cybercrime police have written to Instagram officials seeking details. “We’ll track the URL of the account holder,” they added.
