Thiruvananthapuram: Govt medical college hospital gets multi disciplinary research lab

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The four-storey building for multi-disciplinary research laboratory is ready for commissioning at medical college campus.
The state government has spent Rs 27.55 crore to establish the laboratory. The multi-disciplinary research unit of the Union government too will function in the building. The Centre has provided Rs 5.25 crore for it.
One of the major labs in the building will be viral research and diagnostic lab which assumes significance in the wake of increasing cases of deadly viral diseases like Nipah. The state government and the central government have contributed Rs 1.25 crore each for this. An animal house, which will be used for medical testing and research, too is ready.
