MOHALI: Interstate buses can still be seen operating from Mohali’s old bus stand in Phase VIII.
This is despite Gmada demolished structures at the old bus stand in April to take possession of its six acres of land which is worth Rs 100 crore.
What is more interesting is the fact that the administration has completely failed to check the operations of buses, which board passengers from here.
It is due to this that Mohali’s new bus stand — Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Inter State Bus Terminus (ISBT) — is still unable to catch up in its operations.
It has been learnt that all 225 buses originating from Mohali were to start operating from the new ISBT but with time, the interstate bus operators stopped operating from the new bus stand.
Not only this, even the residents of Mohali are not comfortable with the location of the new bus stand. “My work demands a lot of traveling. Boarding buses from old bus stand is more convenient. Boarding buses from the new bus stand costs us more because it ia at the other end of the city. Mohali administration must come up with an alternative,” said Tejpreet Singh, a resident of Phase XI.
