Robbers shoot at priest after loot

KANPUR: A 63-year-old priest was shot at by a group of unidentified robbers inside the premises of Sai Dham temple in Sikanderpur area of Azadnagar in Kannuaj, late Friday night.

Police said that the injured priest was identified as Suresh Kumar Dubey.


Kotwali inspector Vinod Mishra, said, "The head priest was fast asleep along with another priest Narain Das Saraswati Baba on ground floor of the temple when the robbers struck. After entering the temple, the criminals shot at Dubey." They miscreants made off with Rs 1.25 lakh cash kept inside the donation box.
