Eight seriously injured in Wilson after hit-and-run involving stolen ute
Six adults and two children are in hospital after a station wagon in which they were travelling was hit by a stolen vehicle on Saturday afternoon.
Major Crash officers are investigating the crash, which happened in Wilson just before 4pm.
A stolen white Toyota Hilux utility was heading north east along Leach Highway when it hit the white Hyundai station wagon, which was stationary at a red traffic light.
The station wagon then struck the rear of a semi-trailer being towed by a Mercedes truck and was wedged under the trailer.
The eight occupants of the Hyundai received serious injuries and were conveyed by ambulance to Royal Perth Hospital and the Perth Children’s Hospital.
The driver of the Toyota, a 34-year-old man, received facial injuries and fled the scene.
It is believed he boarded a bus on Leach Highway and travelled to Bentley.
He was later apprehended by police.
Major Crash officers would like to speak to anyone who saw the crash or the Toyota Hilux prior to the crash.
They would also like to speak to anyone who saw a man with a bloodied face board a bus in the Wilson area.
