DoubleTree fires workers after kicking out black guest

(upsound video - @mymainereason/Instagram) "You really want this PR issue Earl?

Do you?" Two employees at a Portland DoubleTree Hotel were fired Saturday after they kicked out Jermaine Massey - a guest who was in the lobby speaking to his mom on the phone..

Massey, who is from Washington State, was in Portland last Saturday to see rapper Travis Scott perform.

He accuses the 71-year-old security guard Earl Wesley Meyers of racially profiling him... (Instagram video) (JM) Why are they coming?

(EARL) Escorting you off the property.

(JM) Because what?

And I'm staying here?

(EARL) Not anymore.

(Instagram video) "He even went so far as to say he's there to protect the safety of the guests.

As if I weren't a guest and I was causing a disturbance and I was a safety threat." In the video, Massey asks Meyers why the white guests were not also questioned: (Instagram video) (EARL) They're not loitering.

(JM) How am I loitering in an area that's public?

(EARL) You're sitting here.

(JM) So this area is off limits after a certain time?

(EARL) Only if you're a guest.

(JM) I am a guest.

(EARL) You didn't tell me that.

Massey shows his room key to the hotel manager (Instagram video) (LUIS) He wouldn't have asked me to call 911 without any cause.

(JM) I didn't do anything to this man.

(LUIS) OK.

(JM) I'm just taking a phone call.

A responding officer shows up and tells Massey he could be arrested for trespassing if he stays... Massey complies and checks into another hotel… According to the police report, it said that Massey quote "became loud and started yelling that the hotel was racist" (Instagram video) You know judging someone based off of the color of their skin -- you never know how it feels until you've actually been there.

In a tweet, the hotel confirmed the terminations and added the actions by the two men were quote "inconsistent with our standards and values.

We reiterate our sincere apology for what he endured and will work with diversity experts to ensure this never happens again"
