Amendments to the party constitution to change the tenure of office-bearers are likely to be discussed at the AAP national council meeting on Saturday, sources said on Friday.
Party leaders told The Hindu that the resolution on changing the maximum tenure of office-bearers was being prepared. As per the party constitution, no office-bearer can serve more than two consecutive terms of three years each. The second tenure of AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal will come to an end on April 26, 2019. Sources said proposals to amend the constitution were under consideration for at least a month. Separate amendments were being considered for “many significant posts”, a party leader said. AAP national executive member and Delhi unit convener Gopal Rai said Saturday’s meeting would focus on AAP’s plan for 2019 Lok Sabha polls.
