JAIPUR: A 20-year-old woman who was missing from her house was found murdered with her eyes disfigured and stains of acid on her clothes in a jungle on the outskirts of the city in Kanota Friday afternoon.

Kanota SHO Gauri Shankar said woman was identified as a resident of a nearby village. “No injuries were found on her leg, throat or stomach. But there are acid like injuries all over her , only post-mortem report (PMR) would reveal the true circumstances leading to her death,” he said, adding that the police are treating it as suspected case of murder.

The police said that a local resident had alerted them about the body following which the teams were sent to the area. “We retrieved the body and sent it for the post-mortem. The FSL has also taken some samples from nearby areas to determine if indeed there was some acid,” the official said.

While the police have in their initial investigation ruled out the possibility of any sexual assault, the SHO said that they are waiting for the post-mortem report to reveal the complete details.

The police added that she was married and they have spoken to her in-laws and parents about the incident. “Her family has not raised any allegations on the in-laws. But we are taking statements of every one,” he said, adding that the police are treating it as a murder case and have registered a case under the same section.

“We are probing as to how she ended up in the jungle, or if she was murdered somewhere else and brought here. Her village is not very far from the murder spot but footfalls at this particular secluded place are rare,” an official associated with the investigation told TOI.

A similar murder was reported on Sunday where the body of a 35-year-old rag picker identified as Prem Devi was found in Kho Nagoriyan jungle. The subsequent investigation revealed that she woman was murdered by her lover in a fit of rage following a tiff with him in an inebriated condition. The police had arrested the accused identified as Amar alias Sonu who admitted during the investigation that Devi, a widow had used foul language against while they were drinking at a secluded place.
