HYDERABAD: To clear the rush of passengers during Sankranti festival, South Central Railway (SCR) will run six special trains between Secunderabad and Kakinada Town, and Kacheguda and Kakinada Town in January.

Between January 11 and 13, three services each will be available from Secunderabad (8 pm), and Kacheguda station (9.15 pm). These one way special train services will ply via Malkajgiri, Khammam and Kazipet, among other stations.

However, more trains will be slotted to clear the festive rush, sources said. Last year, the SCR had run 138 exclusive services for the festival, and earned close to Rs 50 lakh from each of the special trains.

The SCR cancelled a special train scheduled to ply between Machilipatnam and Secunderabad on January 10 because of poor passenger response.
