Bhopal: Chief Minister secretariat has sought information of work orders issued and approved by six departments after October 1. The information has been sought from public works department (PWD), water resources, Narmada Valley Development Department, urban administration, energy and public health engineering.
Seeking of details from these departments is a clear indication that Chief Minister Kamal Nath wants information on the works approved with a view to influence elections. Calling of information by the CM secretariat would tighten noose around those officers who had issued work orders to influence the voters.
The information is to be submitted by the departments by Saturday. Ministers and MLAs, in view of the elections, had got several works sanctioned in these departments. The tenders for these workrs were also released at the last minute. Nath may also order inquiry into the works.
Seeking of information by CM secretariat has sent shock waves in these
departments. Code of conduct had become effective in some departments from
October 5. Some departments had issued work orders between October 1 and 5 and
now the officers fear giving information about them to the CM.
