Who knew that Lake Burley Griffin often resembles the set of a fantasy film? Or a French noir film where the characters speak all of six lines?

The most-liked photos on our @canberratimes Instagram page showcase some peak Canberra moments: the bright tones of Floriade and the coldest, foggiest days of the year. But moody and mystical images, plus a stunning astrophotography capture, depict an almost hidden side of our capital.

Our bush capital of brutalist architecture and strategic town planning can sometimes have a mystical edge, as captured yet again by Elvin who was en route to Weston Park for a bit of kangaroo portraiture when she discovered this perfect scene of winter fog.
