Despite promises, potholes dot roads in Anwar Layout

BENGALURU: Residents’ pleas to fill craters on roads in Anwar Layout, Kadugondanahalli, off Nagawara Road, have fallen on deaf ears for two years despite repeated assurances from the authorities.
The roads in the layout, which comes under Kushalnagar ward, have become accident-prone zones as the concretising work is incomplete. A bridge across the sewage drain is also in bad shape, posing threat to commuters.
Syed Jaleel, a retired BSNL employee, said, “For two years, we have been requesting BBMP officials, the corporator and local MLA to fix the problem. All we have got are assurances, but nothing has changed on the ground.”
“ Every time we went to the authorities, we got a standard reply, ‘Nim file mele idhe, kelsa madthivi (your file is the on the top, we will carry out the work)’. Last time, it was a different refrain: ‘Nim file missing (your file is missing)’,” he said.
Corporator Umme Salma was not available, but her husband Khamar Pasha said he would speak on her behalf. “There were issues with the BWSSB over installing sewage pipelines which caused the delay, but now they have taken up the work,” he said.
Mohammed Rahmathullah, a footwear merchant in the locality, said they met Pulakeshinagar MLA Akhan Srinivas Murthy, who promised to fix the problem but nothing has changed.
