Anupam Kher has stepped into the role of former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in his upcoming movie The Accidental Prime Minister.
The movie is adapted from the book written by Mr. Singh’s former media adviser Sanjaya Baru. Actor Akshaye Khanna is seen in the role of Mr. Baru and Arjun Mathur acts as Rahul Gandhi.
The film is directed by debutante Vijay Ratnakar Gutte. Hansal Mehta has worked on the screenplay.

The movie is BJP’s propaganda against their party, Congress leaders said. The trailer shows Mr. Singh as a victim of the Congress’ internal politics. "It's a riveting tale of how a family held the country to ransom for 10 long years," said BJP. |

The trailer drew sharp reactions from the Congress, which dubbed it a “propaganda film”. “The more they protest, the more publicity they will give to the film," Kher said. The actor said he will not back off from the snowballing controversy over the film on former prime minister Manmohan Singh.
