At the 64th Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) national conference, Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani on Thursday said the party teaches the youth to live and die for the country. The conference, which had over 3,700 delegates and workers attending from across the country, held at Sabarmati riverfront, began on Thursday in presence of Padmashri Dr AS Kiran Kumar, former chairman of ISRO and Gujarat CM Vijay Rupani.

Addressing the students, Rupani remembered his days as a worker and said, "Many years ago, I used to sit on the floor the way you are sitting and chant Bharat Mata ki Jai. As a worker of ABVP, we only had nationalism in our mind. We were taught to live and die for nation. I am first a member of ABVP and then a chief minister later."

He added, "ABVP has always fought against casteism, opression, naxalism and regionalism. ABVP has played a major role during emergency. If karyakartas like you had not played your role in countering the anti-national forces within campuses, they might have succeeded. Every time the nation went through tough times, ABVP contributed towards positive growth of the country."

"I wish this seminar leads you all to take a resolution on the lines of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision for a new India in 2022. An India without any poor, without any unemployment, with no corruption, all educated, etc", he concluded.

Sharing achievements of ABVP, National General Secretary of ABVP Ashish Chauhan said, "This ABVP is now said to work with a 2.0 attitude, it means that it keeps modernity and values together while on the journey of national reconstruction."
