BENGALURU: Brace for congestion on roads in central business district. With Namma Metro services set to be disrupted between MG Road and Indiranagar from 8pm on Friday till Sunday night, traffic chaos is expected on thoroughfare and surrounding areas.

The suspension is to facilitate repair work at Trinity Metro station. Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (BMRCL) said trains will will operate as usual — at a frequency of 6 to 15 minutes — on the Purple Line’s Mysuru Road-MG Road and Indiranagar-Byappanahalli sections.

On December 28, trains leaving at or before 7.30pm from Mysuru Road will run up to Byappanahalli and those leaving Byappanahalli at or before 7.45pm will go up to Mysuru Road. Trains departing after this will run only till MG Road and Indiranagar, respectively. For commuters using the Green Line (Nagasandra-Yelachenahalli) and switching to the Purple Line at Majestic interchange station, tokens for stations beyond MG Road towards Byappanahalli will be issued only till 6.45pm on December 28.

Sour ces in BMRCL said they have held talks with BMTC and traffic police about the shuttle services to be operated between MG Road and Indiranagar. The number of buses and routes will be decided by Friday, said a BMRCL official. BMRCL has also introduced free shuttle services from Cubbon Park to Byappanahalli stations (to and fro) on December 28 (8pm to 11pm) and on December 29 and 30.

Services will be restored at 5am on December 31 after the completion of maintenance work at Trinity station.
