JAMSHEDPUR: East Singbhum deputy commissioner Amit Kumar on Thursday said the district’s twin industrial cities of Jamshedpur and Adityapur have received a cumulative investment of Rs 4,000 crore since February 2017. After the ground breaking ceremony in the Steel City on August 19, 2017, as a follow-up to the Global Investors Summit in Ranchi in February, 2017, the two industrial towns have received the investments in diverse sectors, including manufacturing, services and others, Kumar said.

Talking to TOI, Kumar said a considerable chunk of the investments, including Rs 750 crore in Ramkrishna Forgings Ltd for its expansion project at Dugni in adjoining Seraikela-Kharswan and Rs 550 crore in Hindustan Copper Limited (HCL) at Murgaguta in Mosaboni in Ghatshila, has potential to employ over 8,000 people.

“HCL alone will employ 5,000 skilled youth directly,” he said. He also said investments in textile and food processing sectors are also worth noticeable. In 2019, manufacturing, textile and food processing units will open their job markets, the DC said, adding that priority will be given to skilled local youths.
