MANGALURU: Senior Congress leader and Rajya Sabha MP B K Hariprasad said here on Friday that the Congress-JD(S) coalition government will continue even after the Lok Sabha election.

Hariprasad told reporters that there is no need of apprehension with regard to the existence of Congress-JD(S) coalition after the Lok Sabha election. He said Congress will fight the Lok Sabha election through Mahagathbandhan by joining hands with various political parties including JD(S).

"Some leaders from the BJP are gripped by fear that they have been giving statements against Mahagathbhandhan. People have elected Congress in the recently concluded election and rejected BJP. Congress has proved its democratic values again," he said.

On Ayodhya issue, Hariprasad said the BJP remembers construction of Ram Mandir when election nears. “This time the Ram Mandir issue will not help the BJP,” he added.

Later, at a celebration held to commemorate the 134th foundation day of Indian National Congress, AICC secretary P C Vishnunath said the Congress is the soul of the nation. "BJP leaders, who question the contributions of Congress, should recall the sacrifices made by leaders of Indian National Congress in the past 134 years. Making India a strong nation with developments taking place in science and technology and providing employment and education to people are the contributions of Congress," he added.
