Action initiated to collect penalties from erring retailers

During the 1,632 raids conducted by Labour Department officials on sweet shops, bakeries, textile shops, 181 violations were noticed and action has been initiated against them.

According to an official release, during the inspections, statutory information such as the name of the manufacturers, full address, consumer care number, e-mail address, generic name, net quantity, MRP, date of packing were not found. In some cases, MRP of the items were found to be in excess. Fines have been levied against the erring establishments.

“Apart from this, inspections were conducted on 1,176 jewellery shops under the Legal Metrology Act and Packaged Commodities Rules throughout the State and 389 contraventions were noticed. Penal action is being initiated to collect the fine amount,” it added.
