HYDERABAD: Six persons were arrested from a residence at Ranigunj in Secunderabad on Thursday and a country-made pistol and three live rounds were recovered. The police busted the gang, which was looking around for a prospective buyer of the firearm.

Among the accused was an auto driver from Pune, 18-year-old Hussain Gyas Mohammed Khan, who had procured the pistol and ammunition from Bihar three months ago. He came in touch with his childhood friend from Mallapur, P Prakash, to dispose of the firearm with a promise to offer him a good commission if the pistol gets sold.

Prakash, who brought the pistol from Pune, contacted his friends - J Mohan of Rajendra Nagar, Nemi Chand and Ganpat Jatti of Secunderabad and Narender Chowdary of Vikarabad - to search for customers. The pistol was kept at Nemi's house in Ranigunj, while the gang looked out for prospective buyers.

Hussain came down to Hyderabad on Thursday and met Nemi and others at his house to discuss ways to sell the weapon. On credible information, a west zone Task Force team raided the house and arrested the six accused persons.
