ASEND conference begins

Thiruvananthapuram: National systems conference (NSC) on 'advanced systems engineering concepts for national development' (ASEND) began here on Thursday.

G Vijayaraghavan, former member of planning board, said in his inaugural address that space research and atomic energy were the only notable areas of research and development by public-funded organizations in the country. He highlighted the systems engineering concepts followed by Isro, its flawless launches and also shared his experience at the Spaceport during the GSLV F11 launch on December 19. He also said that the team should impart knowledge to companies and professionals on other sectors in achieving zero defect targets.


NSC is an annual event of the Systems Society of India (SSI) devoted to strengthening the systems movement and its applications. It provides a forum for sharing knowledge and disseminating research findings.


A souvenir was released by IIST chancellor B N Suresh, who also delivered the keynote address. Prof UR Rao Memorial Lecture was delivered by PS Goel. The function was presided over by LPSC director V Narayanan.
