PUNE: Prompt action by the cyber crime cell of the Pune police has helped four victims of cyber fraud to secure Rs 93,000 as refund from their banks.
As per the RBI directives, any person, who has never shared his or her debit/credit card or OTP or bank account details with anyone but still loses money to fraudulent transactions, can get refund from the bank.
The affected person must approach the police within seven days of the fraud, with written complaint and bank account sheet, and fill up a form to secure police endorsement. The endorsement can be submitted to the bank to claim the refund.
One of the two victims had lost Rs 38,500 in an online fraud recently. The fraudster, who claimed to be a bank officer, had taken the details of the complainant’s credit card and had transferred the amount to two different e-wallets.
“After getting the complaint, our team swung into action and contacted the offices of the e-wallet service. We helped the complainant to secure the entire amount,” said an officer from the cyber crime cell.
The officer said that cyber crime cell has also helped to secure refund of Rs 9,000, Rs 14,500 and Rs 31,000 to the three other complainants.
