BHUBANESWAR: Augmenting the city bus service between Bhubaneswar and Cuttack, the Capital Region Urban Transport (CRUT) on Wednesday ran 28 buses — 19 AC and nine non-AC buses — on the route.

In Bhubaneswar, the buses will pass through major junctions such as Infocity, Patia, Nandankanan and Trisulia Bridge. This stretch sees heavy vehicular traffic throughout the day, especially since the opening of the bridge that has shortened the distance between Cuttack and Bhubaneswar.

Officials said the Airport-Nandankanan stretch of the route is the busiest. “With the introduction of luxurious buses on the road to Cuttack, we hope the use of personal vehicles will reduce. This will lead to ease of traffic,” said an officer.

The route is 37km long. “The bus service will start from 7 in the morning so that those shuttling between Cuttack and Bhubaneswar for business and official work can reach on time. The last bus from both ends will start around 8 pm,” the officer added.

Inside the Smart City, there will be stops at Airport, Capital Hospital Square, AG Square, Bhubaneswar Club, heads of the departments, Power House Square and Kalinga Stadium, among others. tnn
