Commissioner of Police, in-charge, N. Swetha Reddy said that the police arrested and produced in the court five accused persons in the case registered under the Sections 120B, 436, 461 read with 34 and 109 of IPC in III Town Police Station, here on Wednesday.
On the run
Giving details of the case at a press conference, she said the arrested were Gade Krishna, Merugu Chinnu Goud, Marineni Manohar, Gaddameedi Ajay and Kasaram Prashant, all aged between 36 and 24 years. Another four accused persons in the case Sirpa Raju, Akash, Eleti Srinivas Reddy and Ravikumar, an excise constable have been on the run.
She said that the accused at the behest of the Bharati Digital Network management hatched a conspiracy to cause financial loss to their rival in the cable business-Gujarat Telecom Private Limited (GTPL) owned by C. Prakash Reddy and C. Rajender Reddy. As per their plan Manohar along with his friends Ajay and Prashanth set ablaze the Gujarat Telecom Private Limited’s set-top boxes and other electronic equipment used in the cable network worth about ₹3.50 crore on December 19 midnight.
Burnt to ashes
The trio poured the fuel on the equipment through ventilator of the Gujarat Telecom Private Limited godown at Subashnagar and set the fire. All the equipment was burnt to ashes. Investigating team comprising Circle Inspectors of Police G. Naresh, T. Srinath Reddy, R. Raghunath and Jagdish and III town SIP R. Krishna busted the case and arrested the accused, she said.
Ms. Swetha appreciated the team for its fast action in unravelling the case.
