In 2017, Baoshan’s total tourism revenue reached 11.5 billion Yuan ($1.67 billion), registering a year-on-year increase of 15 percent. In the first three quarters of 2018, tourism revenue reached 8.92 billion Yuan, going up 4.2 percent over the same period of 2017. Currently, there are 21 tourist attractions in the district, including six at the national 4A-level and three at the national 3A-level. The number of 4A sites ranks second after Pudong New Area in Shanghai.
Scenic spots in this district received a total of 8.58 million visits in the first three quarters of 2018. Currently, Baoshan has three four-star Shanghai sports tourism and leisure bases, six industrial tourism demonstration bases, including Baosteel National Industrial Tourism Demonstration Site and Shanghai International Industrial Design Center, and six places rated as “2018 Recommended Places for Leisure in Shanghai” like Wusong Paotai Wetland Park and Shanghai Wisdom Bay Science and Technology.
Baoshan has turned out to be the largest cruise home-port in Asia and the fourth largest in the world. It is also home to Shanghai’s largest cherry blossom forest and dozens of unique museums, attracting tens of millions of visitors from all over the world every year.
Baoshan has also various festivals to create a sustainable and fascinating festival brand supported by two tourism business cards: “cherry blossom” and “wave flower.” The Shanghai Cherry Blossom Festival is extremely popular among visitors. Since its inception in 2011, the festival has received more than 11 million visits.
Shanghai Cruise Tourism Festival is also quite popular, featured by a cruise tourism products trading platform, leisure experience of cruise culture and brainstorming in cruise industry.
