40-year-old building collapses in Mahidharpura

SURAT: A two-storey building in Mahidharpura area collapsed on Wednesday afternoon. Since the property was more than 40-years-old and nobody was living there when the incident occurred.


According to the officials of central zone, the building in Bhoot Sheri’s front portion came down on Wednesday afternoon. The building is owned by one Bhupendra Shah. He was issued notice by Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) repeatedly for renovation of the building.


Officials also said that new construction was taking place near the old building and it could have helped in early collapse of the building .


An official from Central zone said that they will fully bring down the whole structure and then take needful action.
