New Delhi, The Congress on Thursday alleged that the Narendra Modi government has failed to improve basic rail services, and said it is troubling the mobility of thousands of Indians.

“While the Modi Government chases a white elephant in the form of a Bullet train, it has consistently failed to deliver or improve basic rail services – rendering thousands of Indians immobile”, Congress tweeted.

The grand old party took on the Modi government on the basis of news report that former Punjab Minister and senior BJP leader Laxmi Kanta Chawla criticised the Union government for the dilapidated state of trains.

Ms Chawla shared a video, which went viral on social media, from the Saryu-Yamuna train, in which she was travelling and was stuck for more than 10 hours.“Forget the bullet trains and focus on the ones that are already running”, she said in the video.

“This train was once known as the Flying mail. I don’t remember when it used to fly to its destination.

It is running nine hours late” she said and added that trains doors, latrine taps and toilet seats are broken.“My appeal is to Prime Minister Modi and the government is, please have some pity on us common people”, she said in the video.cc
