3,000 people from DMK, AMMK and other parties join AIADMK

O Panneerselvam and Edappadi K Palaniswami (File photo)CHENNAI: More than 3,000 people from Karur district – representing political parties like the AMMK, MDMK, DMK and Congress --- joined AIADMK on Thursday, in the presence of party coordinator and Tamil Nadu deputy chief minister O Panneerselvam, party joint coordinator and chief minister Edappadi K Palaniswami and others.
Karur district was recently in news politically after disqualified MLA from Aravakurichi and AMMK leader Senthil Balaji joined the DMK. While this was seen as a setback not only for the AMMK, but also to the ruling AIADMK, both the parties sought to brush it off as non-consequence event.
As if wanting to send out a message that AIADMK continues to thrive and attract leaders and cadres from other parties, the ruling party’s strongman in Karur district and state minister, M R Vijayabhaskar, swung into action and brought 3,000 people to Chennai to join it.
