GURUGRAM: An engineer and his friend were robbed of a car, their mobile phones and wallets at gunpoint by two assailants on MG Road late on Monday night. An FIR has been registered.
Sector 9 resident Surender Pal Singh (22), a computer engineer working with a private company in the city, said the crime took place around 11.30pm near DLF Grand Mall on MG Road.
“I and a friend were headed home from my office, which is in Sector 69, in my Maruti Suzuki Celerio. We stopped at MG Road and got out to buy a bottle of water from a roadside shop. We were getting into my car when two men approached us. One of them pointed a gun at my friend’s forehead and the other pinned me. They forced us to sit inside the car and drive. Around 200m away, they snatched our wallets and mobile phones, and pushed us out of the car,” Singh told cops in his complaint.
When contacted, his father Jasbir said the car was still registered in the name of its previous owner as he purchased it via an online portal two months ago.
An FIR was registered against the duo under Section 379B (snatching and use of force) of the IPC and sections 25-54-59 of the Arms Act at Sector 29 police station on Tuesday. “We have formed two special teams and have also involved the crime unit in the case. Raids are being conducted to nab the accused. We are examining CCTV footage of the area as well. The accused will be arrested at the earliest,” said inspector Jagbir Singh, SHO of Sector 29 police station.
