Vadodara: A 14-year-old boy allegedly involved in a theft of Rs 1.85lakh was injured in Halol while being chased after he was spotted stealing the cash in Halol from chairman of a milk cooperative. The boy has been taken into custody by the police even as his accomplice escaped.
Thakore Parmar, who is the chairman of the Vintoj village milk producers’ cooperative society, had come to the Panchmahal District Cooperative Bank (PDCB) to withdraw cash. Parmar has stated that he withdrew Rs 1.85lakh for payment to the cooperative members.
According to an offence registered by Parmar, he wanted to buy some pesticides and fertilizers for his farm and had stopped at Kanjari Road trijunction. His son Dinesh was also to join him to go home. When Parmar was waiting for Dinesh, a boy spilled some dirt from a bottle on him. Parmar went to a nearby tea stall to clear the dirt and was joined by a youth who started to help him.
At this time, the boy who had spilled the dirt on him opened the helmet box of his scooter and removed the cash from it and started running. Coincidentally, Dinesh arrived at this time and saw the incident. Dinesh too started chasing the boy.
Amidst claims that the boy was beaten up while being chased, the offence registered regarding the theft as well as Halol police inspector B I Gohil said that the boy had dashed into a pole while running from the crime site. It has also been claimed that while running the boy fell down too.
Gohil said that the boy was with the police, but he was unable to give any details and kept saying that he could not understand Hindi. The youth who had diverted Parmar’ attention by helping him clean the dirt has also run away.
