Mumbai: 5 dead in Chembur highrise fire, several feared trapped

MUMBAI: As many as five persons, including four women, have been killed while several others are feared trapped after a major fire broke out in a 15-storey building in Chembur on Thursday evening.
Medical superintendent of Rajawadi Hospital Dr Vidya Thakur confirmed that five people were brought dead including four women.
Among the deceased, two had burn injuries and the remaining three seemed to have succumbed due to smoke inhalation, Dr Thakur said. She added that the cause of death will however be confirmed only after autopsy.
The deceased have been identified as Sunita Joshi (72), Bhalchandra Joshi (72), Suman Shrinivas Joshi (83), Sarala Suresh Gangar (52) and Lakshmiben Premji Gangar (83).
