The Regional Hotel Association of Sauraha organised the event which was attended by government officials, tourism entrepreneurs etc. There was a 15 minutes long elephant football and during the occasion Nepali Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Rabindra Adhikari said that the festival will help in boosting the tourism of the Himalayan regions.
He went on saying that the elephant festival was a part of their annual tourism calendar and a renowned international event which will help in attracting more number of foreign tourists in the country.
The fiesta is aimed at bringing humans closer to elephants , encourage wildlife protection , conservation and promote tourism.
The organizer said that the festival will showcase elephant walk, football match, elephant bath and elephant beauty contests and picnic.
Located 160 km away from the capital city is the Chitwan National Park which is a pioneer hub for elephant adventures and jungle safari.
