Six killed in separate accidents in the city

Separate road accidents in the city limits claimed the lives of six people, including that of a couple and a 65-year-old man, on Tuesday.

Zakeer Hussain, 41 and his wife Shabana, of Pound Kadavu were killed in an accident on the National Highway bypass late Tuesday night. Their daughter Nabeesath escaped with injuries. A car had hit the couple’s two-wheeler. Zakeer and Shabana leave behind two more children, Tariq and Taufiq.

Another road accident at Vellayani on Tuesday morning claimed the lives of two men from Tamil Nadu. The two-wheeler they were riding was hit by another vehicle. The deceased were identified as Sharatchandran, 22, of Kaliyal, and Jayaseelan, 25, of Tripparappu.

In yet another accident on Tuesday, a 23-year-old died at Valiyathura after his two-wheeler spun out of control and he was hurled onto the road. He was identified as Naveen of Vilavoorkal. Aron, who was riding pillion, sustained injuries. A 65-year-old man, Marian D'Cruz, lost his life after he was knocked down by a car near the St Andrew’s Church.

Policeman succumbs

Meanwhile, Sanju, a civil police officer injured in an accident last Saturday at Navayikulam, succumbed on Tuesday. The 38-year-old policeman had been posted at the Kadakkavur police station.

On Monday, Hudson Fernandez, 25, had been killed when his bike crashed into electric poles at Puthiyathura. On the same day, Rahul R., 22, had died after a KSRTC bus hit his motorcycle at Manjadimoodu.
