Mine accident

more-in

The fate of the miners trapped in a ‘rat-hole’ in Meghalaya is not known. That we are so ill-prepared to deal with a crisis situation such as this is brought out by the inability of our disaster managers to even locate where the trapped miners are. The efforts made in India to rescue the trapped miners is in sharp contrast to the Thai cave rescue that gripped the world. Thailand pooled its resources and prayers and stood as one nation to achieve the seemingly unachievable. Illegal mining should not be blamed on the labourers, but on those who make big money out of it.
