Union Minister Nitin Gadkari has agreed to call meeting of the Chief Ministers involved in Cauvery basin dispute to discuss the Mekedatu Project.
The meeting of Chief Ministers of Karnataka and Tamil Nadu is important to discuss the implementation of the Mekedatu Project.
Kumaraswamy, during a meeting with Union Mininster Nitin Gadkari, said Tamil Nadu has raised objection against the project even though it is beneficial to both the State, and requested him to resolve the issue by calling a meeting.
Regarding the Mahadayi Tribunal order, Goa government has approached the Supreme Court and this has obstructed the State to use its share of water.
Hence the Chief Minister appealed him to discuss the issue with the State government and resolve the issue.
Road projects
Kumaraswamy said the Union Minister for Road Transport, Highways and Water Resources has agreed upon the construction of elevated highway between Hubballi and Dharwad and asked the State government to complete the land acquisition.
The Chief Minister called on Gadkari and discussed various issues on Highway Development in the State.
On this occasion, the Chief Minister discussed the development of alternative roads to National Highway 4 A which connects Karnataka to Goa. This highway is closed for 18 months for widening works.
He requested the Union Minister to develop alternative roads under the same project.
On this occasion, development of NH 373 between Hassan and Belur, 4 lane of Hassan – Holenarsipura Road, upgradation of Channarayappattana- Holenarsipur- Arakalagud-Kodlipet- Madikeri Road to National Highway were also discussed.
Karnataka PWD Minister HD Revanna, Chief Secretary TM Vijaya Bhaskar, Additional Chief Secretary to CM, Dr EV Ramana Reddy were present.
