2018 VW Golf R, Audi A3 And TT Recalled In The U.S. Over Fire Concern

Volkswagen is calling back several units of the Golf R in the United States, which may catch fire due to a faulty part.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) says that a fuel hose quick connector could detach from the supply line in the engine bay leaking fuel.

Affected by this recall are 516 units of the 2018 Golf R, which were assembled between March 13 and August 8 this year. The rest of the 2018MY hot hatches are said to have received fuel lines from a different production lot.

Dealers and owners of these cars will be notified starting February 1, 2019. All work will be carried out free of charge.

Doing some further online digging we found other cars from the Volkswagen Group affected by this issue, namely Audi A3 Sedan, A3 Cabriolet, TT Coupe and TT Roadster. All of them are from the 2018MY, and production dates vary.

A total of 1,620 vehicles are included in this safety campaign, including the 516 VW Golf Rs, 820 Audi A3 Sedans, 105 A3 Cabriolets, 128 TT Coupes and 51 TT Roadsters.

Owners of these Audi vehicles should also expect to hear from the automaker starting early February, when they will be advised to book an appointment with an official dealer so that technicians can replace the faulty bits with new ones.
