Police are asking the public for help finding a man who was last seen in Wanniassa on Friday and is not believed to be equipped for the hot weather conditions forecast for Canberra this week.

Ivan Mortimer, 43, was last seen about 10am on Friday, December 21, police said.

He is described as 177 centimetres tall, with shoulder-length dark hair, a long dark beard and a large build.

It is believed Mr Mortimer was wearing a black shirt with Lion King print, dark shorts and grey and blue joggers. He is believed to have been carrying a black backpack.

Police are calling on anyone who may have seen Mr Mortimer or may have information about his whereabouts to contact them on 131 444.
