Has The 2019 Ford Mustang Retained Its Character Or Has It Become Soft?

The sixth-generation Ford Mustang has been an immense success for Ford. It’s the world’s best-selling sports coupe, and for the 2018MY, the automaker has decided to give it a visual and technical boost.

While nobody who isn’t a Mustang fan can probably tell the facelifted iteration apart from its predecessor, it’s worth noting that it has some exterior changes and a few upgrades in the cabin. There’s an optional digital cluster, active valve exhaust system in V8-powered models, and more safety assist systems as well.

Thus, on paper at least, the latest Mustang more mature than ever. But is it still an American icon in the vein of the ‘60s legend wrapped in a modern package, or has it gotten softer to satisfy a larger number of customers?

It’s very likely that, regardless of the answer, which in this case comes from CarBuyer’s review shared below, if one is looking to buy Blue Oval’s muscle car, nothing can change their mind. Not even the fact that there’s hardly any headroom at the back and that the boot opening is very narrow due to those retro-styled taillights.

On the plus side, the V8 engine sounds great. And it’s quite punchy, too, although the reviewer recommends staying away from the new 10-speed auto and opting for the good old 6-speed manual gearbox instead.

Also, it seems that the 5.0-liter V8 is the one to go for, because as appealing as that 2.3-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder may be tax wise, there’s no denying that the Mustang has been designed to work with a V8. Plus, the EcoBoost unit has lost a few horses with the midlife refresh, whereas the V8 has gained more.
