Gujarat University Vice-Chancellor at ABVP's meet, NSUI fumes

Gujarat University

National Students Union of India (NSUI) members on Monday submitted a memorandum to Gujarat University officials, seeking an explanation over the presence of the university’s Vice-Chancellor at a meeting ahead of a national seminar organised by Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP).

As soon as the photograph of the Vice-Chancellor Himanshu Pandya —attending a meeting with ABVP members went viral — the NSUI members started opposing it.

“The event will begin on December 27, but the V-C has attended a meeting which was held to make the event successful. The meeting had members from RSS,” Narayan Bharwad, secretary, NSUI said. The VC is collecting Rs 15,000 from professors as a fund for the event. A hostel block has been vacated to accommodate  ABVP guests. There are more than 10,000 students waiting for accommodation. On the other hand, they’re accommodating ABVP’s guests,” he said. Attempts were made to reach out to GU V-C Himanshu Pandya, but he did not respond.
