Several trains in Ambala division delayed due to fog

AMBALA: On the second day of fog in the area, several trains were delayed. Nearly seven long-distance trains were running late by five hours or more.
As per the information shared by the railway officials, due to the operational constraints and dense foggy weather the express train 15707 from Katihar to Amritsar will remain canceled from December 25 to February 15 and express train 15708 from Amritsar to Katihar will remain canceled from December 28 to February 18.
Kamal, an official of the Ambala division, said that due to the foggy weather and other operational constraints the Hawra Express ran late by 8 hours, Hawra Mail by 7.50 hours, Himgiri Express by 10 hours, Begumpura Express by 13 hours, Akal Takht by 3.45 hours, and Kamakhya Express by 5 hours.
As per the data of the weather department, the minimum temperature in Ambala during the night recorded was 4 degree Celsius and for the next two day, the temperature could go down to 2 degree Celcius.
The Delhi-Amritsar and the Delhi Chandigarh National Highway had a zero visibility due to the dense fog and the traffic movement is witnessed running very sluggishly.
Some of the migrant passengers who were waiting for the delayed trains were witnessed lying on the ground outside the Ambala Cantonment Railway Station who covered themselves with the blankets and some others were seen trying to beat the chilling conditions with fire after sitting together in a group of four to five.
