PANCHKULA: Over 13 burglary incidents have been reported in the sectors near the Ghaggar in the last three-months in Panchkula. There is no fear of police among the thieves. There is only one PCR patrolling at night in all five sectors. As per sources, only one PCR gypsy is deployed for Sectors 23 to 28. The residents said all five sectors were new and were far from the main city.
These sectors are adjoining the forest area of Morni which helps miscreants escape easily after committing the crime.
Mohan Seth, 44, a resident of Sector 26, said: "More security should be provided to these sectors as they are located far from the main city. We hardly see any PCR vehicle patrolling in the area." Om Prakash, ACP, Chandimandir area, said: "More PCRs and riders will be deployed here so that residents feel safe. Patrolling will be done in shifts." A total of 259 cases were reported in the past one year in Panchkula district. Over 13 burglaries in Ghaggar sectors were reported in the past three months. Members of the welfare association of the sector alleged that police patrolling was nil in the area which had made miscreants fearless.
