Armed robbers threaten Balcatta bottle shop attendant on Christmas Eve
Robbers armed with a bat and broken glass threatened a staff member at a Balcatta bottle shop on Christmas Eve.
A man holding a baseball bat entered the drive-through bottle shop on Wanneroo Road on foot about 10.15pm on Monday before threatening the staff member, demanding cash.
During the incident, a second offender made himself known by breaking a glass bottle and also threatening the staff member.
A police spokeswoman said the two men fled on foot with a sum of cash before getting into a car parked next door to the bottle shop.
“The car was last seen heading in a westerly direction,” she said.
“There were members of the public around the bottle-shop/Inn at the time of the incident and detectives would like to speak to anyone who saw the men.”
The man armed with the bat was described as about 183cm tall, olive skin, medium build, and was wearing a dark hooded jumper and dark sunglasses.
The second man was described as 30 to 35 years old, about 203cm tall, olive skin, solid/muscular build, dark hair that was short on the sides and long on the top, and was wearing a white button-up shirt, light coloured dress pants and dress shoes.
Both men spoke with what’s believed to have been a New Zealand accent.
Regional Investigations Unit detectives are investigating the incident and whether it was linked to a similar armed robbery in Darch on Saturday which left a shop assistant in hospital.
